22 kt gold and natural beads, Manin wire cm 50 with vintage clasp
The Manin wire was used as a necklace or twisted around the wrist as a bracelet of fine workmanship.
The simplicity of these links, known at least since the sixth century, lies in the fact that they are composed of tiny rings of 22 kt gold with a hollow semicircular section, soldered together; just think that with 1 gram of gold you could get 12 or 15 centimeters of chain.
Of such manifacture, typically Venetian, it is ignored still today the exact way of manual manufacture really expensive.
History narrates that from Constantinople the Venetians learned this workmanship called entercosei but more commonly known as Manin or Manini.
Bold matrons, Dogaresse, noblewomen or lucky housewives of bourgeois and popular classes were adorned with these precious threads and precious chokers, the Manin also was well dotàle, and for custom every mother divided it in equal parts among her daughters who transmitted this tradition to posterity, here is the reason why it is rare to find threads of a certain length, although there are examples of a certain length, even 50 – 60 meters. In our times the Manin is sought after by collectors.
