Blackamoor Pendant Manin

Blackamoor Pendant Manin

Exclusive Venetian Moretto pendant in 24 kt pure gold, size 2.5 cm, brilliant cut diamonds, rubies, emerald, ebony head, mounted on a 46 cm old Manin necklace. The Moretto you see on this page and that you can obviously see and try in our shop in Venice, is in pure 24 kt gold. Usually in goldsmiths the gold used is in 18 kt alloy, the right combination of malleability and hardness that allows for the creation of wonderful creations, but… for this type of jewel we have chosen the 24 kt title; the same used in ancient times in the mint of the Serenissima to mint coins such as Zecchini and Oselle or still today in India for finely crafted jewels. Despite the greater difficulties in processing, the “magic” color of 24 kt will never be the same as 18 kt gold. Comparing this Moretto with others of a lower title the difference will be evident. The engravings on the front and back are brighter and time leaves them completely unaltered by oxidation. All the stones used are of high quality; the heads, as with all the other Venetian blackamoors, are made of ebony wood. The creation of these artistic jewels is absolutely artisanal, in particular this blackamoor, like the vast majority of those you see on our site, is a unique prototype made by hand starting from a sheet, drawn, perforated, engraved with a burin, it is not an object made in series with lost wax or computer, no laser is used but only flame welding, the head is in carved ebony, the stones are set and not glued, you will have the guarantee of an exclusive jewel made with the same workmanship of the ancient Venetian goldsmith tradition, a heritage of history and centuries-old customs; in these objects you can find the “old culture” that Venice still manages to express despite the urban degeneration of the last 30 years. One last observation: do not ask yourself how much it costs but … how much it is worth. Price on request – Sometimes we publish on the site jewels available only on order; often photos and details of the jewels you see are published as a historical reference of our 50 years and more of activity for your future orders. We almost always do not publish prices due to the continuous variation of the costs of precious metals and stones; you can ask us if the jewel you saw is available, we will respond shortly also for a quote.
