Gold cufflinks depicting lion in 18 kt gold moeca gr 9.7 – History: in Venetian the word moeca has two meanings linked to tradition: it is associated both with the effigy of the winged lion of San Marco, symbol of the city, which rises from the waters (el leon in moeca), or the local crab (common riparian crab Carcinus Mediterraneus) in the moulting phase, also called fried soft crabs (fried moeche), this delicacy is also called the Venetian nugget. The Venetian lion Moeca therefore takes this name because depicted with its wings spread it looks like a Moeca crab.
